Bristol Event Crew: Riche Joins as Our New Crew Chief
Alpha Crew is growing in the South West, and we're pleased to welcome Riche as our new Regional Manager of Bristol. Riche has been with Alpha Crew since 2018, spending eight years as a Senior Crew Chief in London. He's worked on some of our biggest jobs at home and abroad, and now he's leading our Bristol team as we build our presence across the region. We caught up with him to talk about his time in London, the move west and what event organisers in Bristol can expect.
Q&A with Riche
How long were you a crew chief in London, and how did you first get started with Alpha Crew?
I joined Alpha Crew in 2018 and was a Senior Crew Chief for eight years.
What are some of the standout events or jobs you've worked on over the years?
The best jobs for me have been our annual Sicily trip and Davos for the World Economic Forum. In London, it's probably working in Westminster Abbey, setting up for the King's Coronation. It was a real honour to be part of London's history.
What made you decide to take on the Bristol role?
My family and I decided to move out of London to be closer to our families, and the area we picked isn't far from Bristol. Shortly after I announced I'd be leaving London, the conversation began about taking on the South West and becoming Regional Manager of Bristol.
What are you most looking forward to about working in Bristol?
The change. New clients, a new team and new challenges. I'm looking forward to what we can achieve together as a region.
What kind of events and venues do you expect to be working with there?
I expect the same variety as London. We've already worked on corporate events, structure builds and pop-up events. The best thing about our job is that it's never the same day twice.
What do you think makes a great crew member?
Be reliable, hard-working and polite. Those things will get you a long way in our industry.
What will you bring from your time in London to the Bristol team?
Over ten years' experience in events, plus positivity and an approachable manner. I know what works and what doesn't, and that will help us all moving forward.
What would you say to event organisers in Bristol and the South West looking for crew?
Alpha Crew has a great reputation in London and we're aiming to match it here. Give us a chance to show you what we can do and we won't let you down. We're also continuing to train our crew, so we have forklift operators, IPAF operators and crew with first aid training available for our clients.
Is there anything you'll miss about London?
My teammates, first of all. They're a special group of people I've worked with for many years, and some of the best crew around. As for the city, I lived there for 11 years, so I'm looking forward to a break. But I'll miss the West End. My family and I love a trip to the theatre when we get the time.
