McDonald's Worldwide Convention Barcelona

The Brief

The McDonald's Worldwide Convention has been happening in North America since 1965 and brings together McDonald's restaurant crews, employees and suppliers from around the world. Alpha Crew worked with world leading experiential marketing agency Jack Morton to make sure the first ever European edition was a success.

The McDonald's Worldwide Convention started in Florida as a way for McDonald's owners and operators to meet each other and share tricks of the trade. Since then, 30 conventions have taken place in a variety of American and Canadian cities, including Toronto, Chicago and Las Vegas. McDonald's restaurant crews, franchisees, employees and suppliers from all national markets attend the brand experience which aims to revitalise their community.

The first McDonald's Worldwide Convention outside of North America was held from 8th to 11th April 2024 in Barcelona's expansive Fira Gran Via with an estimated 14k+ people in attendance.

What we did

Over the course of 19 days, Alpha Crew's team of 40 crew members had the privilege of working on the first McDonald's Worldwide Convention in Europe. We worked with our client Jack Morton Worldwide across a wide variety of tasks ranging from setup to post-event cleanup and everything in between. We provided multiple teams led by eight crew chiefs who made sure jobs were completed safely and to the highest standard within the necessary timeframes.

Alpha Crew ensured all areas of the event space met specifications and created the desired event layout by arranging seating and setting up booths. Our logistics support team efficiently unloaded and loaded materials and equipment from trucks into Fira Gran Via. This crew included forklift and telehandler operators who are highly skilled at handling and moving heavy items with utmost care and precision.

Alpha Crew's stage hands and backstage crew looked after all stage-related activities, such as stage building, managing props, and assisting performers and speakers so sessions ran to schedule with smooth transitions between segments. Presentations were seamless and free from technical glitches thanks to our technical team managing the audio-visual set up and operation of screens, projectors, speakers, microphones, and all other AV equipment.

After the uplifting convention, Alpha Crew took care of the event teardown. We safely dismantled setups, packed away and returned equipment, and meticulously cleaned the venue leaving it spotless. The success of McDonald's Worldwide Convention 2024 is evidence of our team’s diligence, consistent attention to detail, and expertise in events crewing.
