L1150522

Like all event crew companies, our crew is the heart and soul of our business. We simply would not exist without them. Their dedication, commitment, loyalty, and enthusiasm are what keep event companies like us afloat, and give us the ability to pull off incredible events. The key to having such a great hardworking crew is having a happy crew. Event crew often have to work long hours, in a fast-paced and often stressful environment. Keeping positive spirits and a happy attitude within your team is essential to not only make sure everyone is content in their career but also in delivering excellent services. Read on to find out our top tips on how to boost crew morale.

Foster a Positive Work Environment

Creating a positive work environment is essential for nurturing high crew morale. It is important to encourage open communication, show appreciation for all efforts, and establish a supportive atmosphere. When crew members feel valued, respected, and heard - morale is boosted and team cohesion is improved.

Celebrate Achievements

Acknowledging the hard work and achievements of crew regularly is not only a good way to boost morale but an essential part of successful team management. Publicly recognise both individual and team accomplishments, whether that is completing a challenging task, receiving positive feedback from clients or successfully managing a demanding event. Celebrating achievements boosts morale and fosters a sense of pride and camaraderie among crew members. Our whole crew and team’s efforts have been recognised most recently at the Event Production Awards 2023, where Alpha Crew won the very first ‘Save of the Season’ award.

Training and Development Opportunities

An effective approach to enhance morale is by prioritising the continual professional development of your team members, which will also benefit them individually. By offering training programs, workshops, and opportunities for skill enhancement, crew are able to see that their company is committed to their personal growth. This then motivates better performance and enhances job satisfaction which is why at Alpha Crew we invest heavily in our training and development programmes.

Team Building Activities

Strong teamwork is the backbone of successful event execution. Setting up team-building activities that encourage collaboration, trust and camaraderie among crew will help improve and develop this when working on client jobs. This could range from fun social outings, team challenges, or even team building exercises during downtime on jobs. At Alpha Crew we have a yearly Charity Bike Ride where crew, team, and clients cycle across Europe to raise money for The British Heart Foundation. As well as this, last year we introduced our annual Crew Awards which were a great success amongst our team and enjoyed by everyone! Team-building activities promote positive relationships, enhance communication, and create a sense of unity among crew.

Provide Regular Feedback

While it is very important to celebrate crew achievements, constructive feedback is also a very valuable tool for both personal and professional growth. By conducting regular performance reviews to provide crew with feedback on strengths and areas for improvement, you can create a supportive feedback culture that helps crew understand the value of their contributions and progress. This will then enable them to feel more motivated and invested in their work.

Prioritise a Work-Life Balance

Events is a 24-hour industry - long working hours and irregular schedules are a common occurrence. Striving to prioritise a positive work-life balance by scheduling regular breaks and providing adequate time off between jobs, will result in a well-rested and balanced crew who are more likely to stay motivated and perform their best.

Offer Incentives and Rewards

Incentives and rewards are both powerful motivators to boost crew morale. Implementing reward systems for outstanding performance can create a sense of healthy competition, encourage productivity, and show appreciation for your crew’s hard work and dedication.
