The brief

Our client John Henry tasked us with rigging and de-rigging for two musical events; a Tom Odell concert and rehearsals for Metallica. In a highly unusual move, both bands trusted us with handling their kit; something very few crewing companies are ever tasked with. Both these events took place at the BBC Maida Vale Studios…but they could only give us three hours to complete both jobs!

What we did

The two events were staged next door to each other which meant there was a risk of causing disruption to one or the other during the process of rigging and de-rigging. Our team had lots of musical equipment to move around, bringing them both in and out. Crucially our hardworking crew made sure transition of equipment was completed as quickly and as smoothly as possible. Minimising disruption for each band was paramount and was achieved by fully understanding the client brief.

Alpha Crew Maida Vale Studios

Johnny Henry, Senior Project Manager, John Henry’s.

“I have worked with Alpha Crew on many of my high-profile projects and always entrust its crew members with any task. The job at BBC Maida Vale Studios for Tom Odell and Metallica was very high-pressured given the amount of kit to bring in and out within a tight timeframe, yet I knew I could rely on Alpha Crew to have my back whilst working to the strict deadline. The crew are extremely hard-working, knowledgeable, well-presented, ultra-helpful and always such a joy to work with.”
